Wales offers some of the best beaches in the world

A lot of people when they are looking for a holiday destination, especially families with children, want a fantastic beach to enjoy. Wales has some of the best beaches in the world catering for anything you could wish for and it is a great place for surfing, too. Whatever you like to do on the beach there are facilities for you. There are miles of sandy beaches, sand dunes, surfing beaches, rock pools, rugged headlands and donkey rides.

In North Wales; Rhyl offers a long sandy beach that has fantastic water quality and cleanliness and the nearby beaches of Llandudno and Colwyn Bay offer the same guarantees. This whole area offers wonderful sand dunes and breathtaking views. Away from the main North Wales holiday spots there are secluded beaches where you can enjoy the tranquillity and beauty without the crowds.

The Mid Wales coast offers long sandy beaches with some of the best surf around the UK. If you are a surfer the length of Mid Wales beaches is paramount to getting the right conditions.

Tenby and Pembrokeshire in South Wales are also great beaches with many blue flag areas where you know your children will be safe. Pembroke has in fact obtained more seaside awards than any other county in the UK so you are guaranteed quality. If you want a peaceful beach holiday or want something a bit more active such as windsurfing, kite surfing, surfing, or scuba diving it is all here.

Wales has great beaches and it is hard to pick the best but here is a selection of some of the best:

Mwnt Sands, Aberporth
A relatively unknown gem where you can get away from it all.

Oxwich Bay, Gower
A huge beach with great facilities but large enough to find a really quiet spot.

Merthyr Mawr, Porthcawl
The beach is a short walk across sand dunes but when you get there you will find a long sandy beach with loads of space.

Manorbier, near St Florence, Pembrokeshire
This is a smaller beach situated in a quiet cove with great areas to explore the rock pools.

Llangennith, Rhossili
Surfers will love this beach. If your young and trendy and own a wetsuit and enjoy a great pub then this is for you.

Whitesands, St David’s
A large beach with lots of amenities: This beach is good for families, surfers or those wanting a boat trip.

Barafundle, Stackpole, Pembrokeshire
This is a bit of a walk away but when you get there you will know it is worth the effort. Walk down the steps to this National Trust beach and find blue clear seas, fine beautiful sand and caves to explore.

Llanddwyn beach, Newborough Warren, Anglesey
This beach offers some of the best views in the world. Look across the Menai straights to the Welsh coastline and the Snowdonia range in the background. This beach offers great scenery and fantastic walks.
